On this Day — Miracle on Ice

On this day in 1980, the U.S. Men's Olympic Hockey Team beat Russia in Lake Placid, New York during the XIII Winter Olympic Games in what was dubbed, "The Miracle on Ice." This was a huge deal because Russia had taken gold in hockey during the last four Winter Olympics. ABC News called The Miracle on Ice, "greatest upset in the history of sports."
