Just a NY Minute!
June 17, 2019
June 17th may have the infamous label as the first day of the Watergate scandal in 1972, but it was also the day the Statue of Liberty arrived in NY in 1885. If you go to NY, make a day of it and tour Liberty Island. Be sure to visit Lady Liberty's Crown! A gift from France to celebrate the United States Independence, the 305 ft. tall copper statue has endured over the decades. Did you know an act of sabotage by the Germans during WWI caused an explosion in the torch in 1916? Since then, the torch has been closed to the public.
