Hard to believe that it’s been 39 years since MTV premiered on August 1, 1981 at at 12:01 am. Music Television became the go-to channel for everyone between the ages of 10 and 25. Now, many of those original viewers are approaching 60 and MTV has moved from music videos into reality, drama, and comedy TV show production as YouTube moved into the music video space. Teen Mom, Jersey Shore, and The Hills remain popular.
