It is no surprise that today is both National Give Someone a Coke Day AND National Root Canal Day. Coca-cola was invented on this date in 1996 by Dr. John S. Pemberton in Atlanta, Georgia. Although invented by a doctor, it eventually found its way to the naughty list when it became clear that it could decay teeth (and everything else you put in with it with the exception of diamonds).
