Caramel or Carmel?
April 05, 2019
On National Caramel Day, we revisit the debate that has long plagued caramel and carmel enthusiasts... with the A or without? A little history first: In 1886, Milton Hershey first created the Lancaster Caramel Company (after Lancaster, Pennsylvania). It wasn't until 8 years later that Hershey Chocolate Company was formed when Milton began searching for additional coating for Lancaster caramels.
So, back to the original question: with the A or without?
Caramel purists will tell you (along with Webster) that there is definitely an A in the melt-in-your-mouth candy's name despite whether it is pronounced or not. Carmel is the proper name of a bay and beach town in California in addition to Carmel-by-the-Sea where you can buy caramels at several candy stores along Ocean Avenue.
As you're planning your trip to Carmel, stop by Royals for some caramel inspiration. We have Chewees Caramel edibles in either Indica or Sativa from Northwest Cannabis Solutions, 100mg $24.
P.S., once you're down in Carmel, check out one of the local cannabis dispensaries since you'll want to leave your Royals products for your return home (not to mention that it's not legal to transport them out of the state).
