Like Homemade Apple Pie... mmmm

We're all about baking so it's no surprise that we're fans of a baked apple pie. The saying goes, "as American as Apple Pie." Ironically, apple pie is not an American invention although we have wholeheartedly adopted it as our own. The earliest known written recipe for apple pie is more than 600 years old from 1381 and originated in England. Being Old English, it's a little difficult to follow but here you go...

To make an Apple Tart: Take good apples and good spices and figs and raisins and pears. When they are well ground, color with Safron and put it in a pie crust. Bake well.
